I probably wouldn't bother with the others again. It is still going to run hot, even with those adjustments, just hopefully not enough to ever cook it. And don't forget its winter, the motor is going to get alot hotter in summer. So stick with whichever has been the best so far. Interesting the shaft broke straight away with the 4400, but that's one of the problems with 2mm shaft motors. So you turned the timing all the way down?

Yea. I turned the timing all the way to 0. Hope that it all works to keep my motor abit cooler. The first motor I had I got off the scale of my Turnigy temp sensor(over 180C)

 Wow. I am betting that was the 20-30 5200KV? Cause that was the first motor I tried, and the bloody thing got damn hot just mucking around in my rumpus for 5 minutes. I notice in your sig you say 3s sometimes. So you have tried 3s? With which motor? And how damn fast was it? I was thinking of trying 3s but probably asking for trouble.

I used the 3S once on the 4800kv and it was stupidly fast.... Thats when I snapped the threaded axle cup. So only ran for about 3-4 minutes.

Hey Shaun have you bought any other pinions yet? Cause I may be wrong about the gearing. I got confused between hot motor and hot ESC. If the ESC and LiPo are cool, and its only the motor that's hot the rule of thumb is its undergeared, not overgeared. So you should probably try a larger pinion first, as long as the ESC is staying cool. It's not always the case, and because you are using a 1/10 beefy ESC, your ESC may never get warm, as opposed to if you were using a 18amper so its hard to know.

But anyway here is the rule of thumb:
Hot motor, cool controller, cool batteries = undergeared
Cool motor, hot controller, hot batteries = overgeared
hot motor, hot ESC, and hot batteries = way overgeared
Warm motor, warm controller, warm batteries = happy components

Both my ESC and Lipo's stay dead cold. Just the motor temp goes through the roof. So getting a bigger pinion gear should help? How much bigger though? I dont want to over do it..

EDIT: What mod do I need to get? .5 or .4?

Yeah pinion size is the hundred dollar question. So you are running the stock 16T at the moment? I would go 18T probably. The idea here is to keep the motor revs down, because when its undergeared the motor is getting straight up to max revs and is there almost the whole time. It is a balancing act though, as amps cause heat too, and the higher the gearing the more amps the ESC has to supply to the motor. The other thing you can try is going down in the motor KV. Maybe the 3800KV http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbyking/stor ... oduct=4704?

If you stick with Duratrax Vendetta pinions you will be right. I believe its a 48p spur on these HSP 1/8th's. Something like this should be the go http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... K:MEWAX:IT
